In this classic two-part short story by Washington Irving, who is recognized as the first American author of classic works, we find two stories, the first being the Bermuda wreck of the flotilla commanded by Sir George Somers which is on its way to Jamestown to resupply the struggling colony there, an event from which Irving implies that William Shakespeare drew his inspiration for "The Tempest", followed by the true story "The Three Kings of Bermuda",   the story of three deserters from that supply mission who hid behind at Bermuda when the fleet was finally able to repair and leave un 1610. They had it all- but just couldn't get along with new-found "wealth"
